God remembering us is a way to say that he remain aware of us and he pays special attention to us.
Asking for signs? It should be more of prompting by the Spirit. There was drawing of lots in the past, but after Jesus' time, this practice stopped.
Genesis 9:4-5
Is backsliding about not feeling God? No, it is drifting away from God as there is some other treasures.
